I was born and raised on
the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland. My husband and I started
dating in high school, and after college we were married and returned
home to establish our careers.
After 22 years with a local
nonprofit organization, I left an executive position to start a second
career. I worked with a coach to determine what I wanted to do in the
next chapter of my life, and found the coaching process to be exciting,
rewarding and absolutely life-changing.
I decided to establish my
own coaching practice where I could utilize my past experience and
education to help others who are mission- and service-oriented be more
successful in their roles and in the process find more happiness and
fulfillment . Coaching nonprofit leaders feels like a very natural
progression from the career that I enjoyed for so many years.
Experience
I joined a small community
hospital as a personnel assistant in 1986. As the organization grew
into a local healthcare system, I continued to take on more and more
responsibilities, and by 2003 I was serving as Executive Vice
President.
Over the years my
responsibilities included strategic planning, internal and external
communications, fund raising, staffing the governing board, line
management, and numerous special projects. My career offered me lots
of variety and the opportunity to wear many hats, which helped me learn
many skills.
Education
I earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in English from the University of Delaware in 1986 with a minor
in sociology and a concentration in communication, graduating summa cum
laude. I received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from
Wilmington College in 1994. The combination of the liberal arts and
business education has served me well throughout my career. I
absolutely love learning and enjoy every opportunity to further my
education, both formally and informally. In 2009 I was certified as a
coach through Coach Training Alliance.
